Background:

Growing up on a farm in the heart of Texas, Benji grew up learning how to care for cattle and horses. His family wasn't rich, but they always had enough to treat their only child to something every once in a while. At the age of 9, Benji's dad took Benji to a military parade. Little Benji was mesmerised by the precision of the marching soldiers, as well as the tricks the fighter jet pilots did in the air. He decided then and there that he wanted to become a soldier.After graduating from high school, to his parents' disapproval, Benji enlisted and joined the United States Army. His idealistic vision about the military was soon crushed in boot camp, once he realised soldiers weren't the pure, invincible warriors he thought them to be. Finally, after serving five years, he quit.Going back to civilian life was hard, and Benji felt like he couldn't fit in since the army. In a desperate attempt to get the adrenaline rush back with more freedom, he tried to find PMCs who would hire him. He found Shadow Company through an old acquaintance from his army days, and he didn't hesitate to reach out to Graves. His military background and passing Shadow Company's entry exam resulted in him being accepted among their ranks. The missions the company engaged in caused him to become desensitised to gore and death.

Background:

Julian grew up in a small religious community somewhere in Alabama state. His father was often away working as a truck driver, so he was mostly raised by his mother, who was a God-fearing woman. He quickly developed a dislike towards religion since he was often punished, his mother saying it was necessary for him to become a God-fearing man. Julian became fully repulsed by it when he discovered by accident that his mother was cheating on his father with the local priest.After he told his father what he found out, his parents divorced. His mother became more unbearable after the divorce, so he thought his only escape was the military after graduating from high school.However, he soon found out that the military was just another prison for him. He often disobeyed orders or got into fights with his commanding officers, and he often got into trouble for owning weed and training while high. In a moment of clarity, Jules realised he would either get kicked out or sent off to prison. In the end, he was let off the hook just by simply getting kicked out. Julian had nothing. He was recruited by Graves just before he could sink deeper and develop more self-destructive habits. Graves often let him loose in Shadow Company.
